The ALP Story

Where Innovation & Clinical Precision
Meet Human Purpose in Nutritional Medicine

ALP Life Sciences was founded as a lipid membrane and metabolism research project. Two brothers with decades of healthcare experience were inspired to create ALP when they encountered interesting new developments in lipid membrane science. Robert A. Barker, MD, a family physician with more than 30 years of experience, and David Barker, founder and CEO of a life sciences research and services company, formed ALP to explore these opportunities. A major university and PhD with lipid expertise conducted research on the core ALP scientific hypothesis and validated it. The first ALP patent was granted. The ALP project seeks to build a bridge between traditional medicine and nutritional medicine based on the new and emerging lipid science.

One of the important products in the ALP development pipeline is a potential botanical treatment to restore more optimal liver metabolism and reduce fat levels in the liver. The unique lipid therapy approach, known as "LipoVeson", aka the LipoVeson platform, has other important and far reaching applications for human health. The ongoing LipoVeson research includes the importance of omega 3 levels in red blood cells (RBC) and the key phospholipids (PL) in RBC and other membranes in liver cells and all other cells. It is increasingly recognized in the peer reviewed research that omega 3 lipids play important roles in lipid membranes and maintaining human health. The amount of and the correct form of lipids is key.

Omega 3s provide a standalone intervention for prevention and improved health outcomes. The new lipid therapeutic approach in development at ALP requires preparation with optimally formulated omega-3 supplements in both triglyceride (TAG) and phospholipid (PL) form. The importance of the choline containing phospholipids in human health is underappreciated. The important objective is to raise the Omega-3 Index (O3i) into the optimal 8-12% range. The peer reviewed research is now piling up that demonstrates the importance of an O3i in the 8-12% range for inflammatory disease prevention and maintaining optimal human health. Through research, the ALP team recognized the significant need for high-quality, optimally formulated omega-3 supplements that enable proactive, health-conscious consumers to achieve an Omega-3 Index (O3i) in the optimal 8-12% range and help reduce the risks of inflammatory diseases.

The ALP Omega-3 Protocol was developed to provide a simple method using the correct forms of TAG and PL omega 3s to target, raise and optimize omega 3 levels, including the levels in lipid membranes. Insuring optimal omega 3 levels is phase one of the research.  Triglyceride (TAG) fish oil does the heavy lifting of the omega 3 index (O3i) while the krill oil phospholipids (PL) provide important additional membrane boost and function. Both Robert and David now target the high end of the recommended O3i range with the ALP Omega-3 Protocol. Give it a try and note the changes in your blood panels.

We don't guess. We test, we dose, we test again. Anything less is wishful thinking.— Robert A. Barker, MD

What does ALP stand for? It is shorthand for Applied Lipid Polymorphism. Fancy words, but the simple idea behind ALP is that with doses of lipids you can remodel the lipids and membranes in the ~30 trillion cells in your body, reducing your risks of inflammatory diseases. In short, ALP stands for "lipids remodeling lipids". Taking high quality lipids to remodel low quality lipids, including your lipid membranes with important health benefits. ALP’s lipid research led to a recognition of the important role of the Omega-3 Index (O3i) to track your inflammatory risks and your lipid remodeling progress. The O3i is typically too low, below 5%, when inflammatory diseases are present.

ALP’s fatty liver disease research continues. In the meantime, ALP recommends that everyone that takes omega 3 supplements in any form know and track their O3i. Without testing, you have no way of knowing if your O3i is too low and in the “at risk” range. The mounting research and science indicates an important question for those seeking to optimize their health. How high is your Omega-3 Index?

The Pillars of ALP

ALP High-3 quickly raises the omega-3 levels in your body to support your optimum health by reducing inflammation, elevating mood, and improving cardiovascular function. The high absorption rate of ALP High-3 reduces the cost to consumers based on the omega-3s they actually absorb. In short, ALP High-3 is an effective ally for your health regimen.
